HUGE Kordia Cherries

Monday, 3 August 2009

Look what I found at Sainsbury's!

British Kordia Dark Cherries

British Kordia Dark Cherries 1

No, they are not just cherries, they are HUGE dark cherries! I bought a bag of normal cherries just for comparison sake. I've never seen cherries this size before, they are about twice the size of normal cherries. Well...and also twice the price.

They are very fleshy and bursting with sweet, juicy flavour. Amazingly, the seeds of these Kordia cherries are about the same size as normal cherries, so imagine how fleshy they are!

Luscious indeed. I'd love to bite into one. I'd like them covered in dark chocolate.

Thanks for all your comments! About your 'what am I going to do with them' question...I actually ate them all on the day I bought them =) THey were so plump and juicy, we couldn't resist =P Hope I can find more at Sains.

doggybloggy: 好貴 means very expensive.

Kenny: We paid about £3.50 for that pack. I guess it's cheap with the £1.50 saving.

Wow, awesome.
Actually, we have an extremely good harvest of cherries in Switzerland this year. Too good that the farmers said they cannot sell at good price and left in the farms for others to pick and I was offered 2 big big bowls. I could not finish them and have to freeze them.

Yum, I think cherries have got to be one of the best things about summer!

gracious me, they ARE massive! and so dark--they're the perfect color. sounds to me like they're worth the extra buckaroos.

um... that's a plum. isn't it?

O wow, those are indeed huge! I still think that eating cherries "raw" is usually the best. Love the flavour!

I love cherries, but it will never ever be the same again for me unless i get my own trees: We had a few trees when i was young and I miss picking them myself and having them so fresh :(
But gosh yes these are nicely big :))

Janet: I am so jealous, I wish someone would give me huge bowls of cherries! It's not often that we see locally grown cherries here actually, the ones sold at supermarkets are usually imported.

Katie: accept it =P

christelle: I've never actually seen cherry trees before! I should really try fruit picking someday.

Beautiful!
I was looking for cherry recipe ideas when I stumbled onto these lovely and colossal Kordia cherries.
And yet, I think I would've done the same thing you did with them, eat them.
